UK ISP’s must stop illegal downloads

The UK is set to become one of the first countries to introduce sanctions on ISP’s who do not make any attempts to stop the illegal downloading of music and films, however how this is going to be done is a completely different matter. After all it is not that easy to know what is being downloaded, it could be a software patch or a legal download.

Whatever to problems that government are insisting that the ISP’s will need to be something that is a definite move to curbing this behaviour by April 2009, otherwise they will be hit with legal sanctions.

There are some real problems here for the ISP’s and the governments plans, ISP’s are going to have to stop access to the internet of a estimate six million people and under European rules the issue of downloading music and films is a civil case. So in order for this to work there will need to be further changes to laws and the way that private individuals are looked into, such as monitoring internet access etc.
