by Rohan Parker
According to sources within the company, ECS (Elitegroup Computer System) are expecting to have shipped 3.8 million notebooks by the end of the year. This would be a hefty increase of 26.67% from last years sales.
ECS currently holds the position of OEM for the Intel Classmate PC, however the company is still having issue in promoting growth within new markets, though shipments are expected to double from last year to 200,000 units sold.
Sources were also quick to note the company’s intention to produce a range of 9 and 11 inch G10IL notebooks aimed at the telecommunications channel market and is already entering into negotiations with retailers throughout the US and Europe.
Another large-scale plan in the works at ECS is to adopt a new approach to generate company growth by releasing brand motherboards designed for the mid to high-end markets. 28 million units are expected to ship by the end of this year.
