Nokia’s concept slim, lightweight and bendable phone and computer.

Nokia’s concept slim, lightweight and … bendable phone.

Finnish corporation Nokia, the world’s largest producer of mobile phones has announced that, in conjunction with the UK’s University of Cambridge. They have developed a new type of mobile phone known as Morph.

This technological leap for cell phones uses new innovations in conceptual nanotechnology, to allow cellphones of the near future, to bend into almost any shape.

The Morph concept has been developed at the University of Cambridge in the UK and Nokia’s own Research Centre in Finland. The new phone is made of unique stretchable technology and has transparent electronics and is totally self-cleaning.

The principles used in the production of the phone were developed from biological studies of spider’s web silk. This will enable the new phone to have elasticity, allowing it to be manipulated into different shapes so that it will be able to perform different tasks for different circumstances.

It can have the regular slim rectangular cellphone appearance for normal use. Then ‘Morph’ when needed to display more information, it will be possible to unfold the phone to reveal touch pads and multiple keyboards. This will enable the unit to work like a laptop computer with similar functions.

The new phone will also employ solar energy, so no battery will be required, it will never need cleaning, and fingerprints will not stick to it. Sensors within the phone will pick up information about the local environment and will be able to display it on a screen.
