Prices Set For New 4 Series Chipsets From Intel
by Rohan Parker
Prices have been released by Intel for their new 4 series chipsets which will be launched in the second quarter later this year. Intel have also announced an extra product to be a part of the 4 series, the P43.
The reason behind the inclusion of the P43 - which is a slightly reduced version of the P45 and will support DDR3 memory up to 1066MHz, as opposed to the P45 which will support dual x8 PCI Express slots and have DDR3 memory up to 1333 MHz - is to offer another entry level option.
As such, the P43 will be offered at US$34 in 1,000-unit tray quantities, as opposed to the P45 which will be going for $US40.
The pricing has yet to be released for Intel’s new entry level IGP chipset, the G41, which is to ship in the first quarter of 2009.
The prices released by Intel so far are; X48 - $US70, Q45 - $US44, Q43 - $US40, P45 - $US40, G45 - $US40, G43 - $US34, P43 $US34.
