Be Broadband expands

The O2 owned broadband service Be are in the process of adding their new high speed ADSL2+ technology to around four hundred telephone exchanges through out the UK by the middle of the year. This should allow speeds of up to 24 Mbps, but it should be understood that not all users would be lucky enough to receive such speeds.

By getting their equipment on more exchanges like they have done could give them access to around two million additional households, which gives them a target audience of around sixty seven per cent of the UK population.

By installing their own equipment in the exchanges, this gives Be a distinct advantage over the other broadband suppliers who use the BT wholesale infrastructure, because this is limited to a maximum 8 Mbps, which shows that they will need to either invest in infrastructure themselves other wise they cannot compete with the likes of Be and other ISP’s who have already invested the cash.

The company are looking into other products and services which can be added tot heir packages, and in new technology which will increase speed even further.
