Pipex renamed GX Networks<br />

Pipex Communications Ltd, one time stalwart of British broadband services and later purchaser of the 123-reg domain registration service, has been renamed GX Networks Ltd.

The move comes after Pipex was bought out by Tiscali last year, bringing together as one two broadband providers with terrible customer service reputations.

Communications, such as emails and bank charges from Pipex will now show as GX Networks.

While the email sent to ex-Pipex customers assures them of “business as usual”, Tiscali have already made it clear they are considering selling off its broadband business - which could see Pipex broadband customers moved to yet another company.

The potential sell off comes after the Tiscalo CEO, Tomasso Pompei was replaced in the chief executive’s chair by board member Mario Rosso.

A sell-off has been tabled as part of company restructuring.

Recent moves by Tiscali into the IPTV market could be in jeopardy, but it remains to be seen how the mooted sell-offs will affect former Pipex customers and services, as well as Tiscali’s Homechoice service.
