TCA Announce New Industrial Alliance
by Rohan Parker
The Taipei Computer Association (TCA) have announced a new industrial alliance between almost 20 hardware makers and software developers for embedded systems products in Taiwan. The alliance, which has been titled the Taiwan Embedded Industry Alliance (TEIA) was formalized on March 5.
The reason behind the set up of the TEIA is that it will act as a platform for both the integration of hardware and software solutions as well as the development of the embedded systems industry. The TEIA is targeting the Google made program for mobile communications products as their number one focus, with operating systems, such as Windows, and embedded applications coming in as second priority.
According to the Market Intelligence Center (MIC) which is a part of the government-backed Institute for Information Industry (III), last year saw an increase in production values of embedded software in Taiwan of 25.9% from the previous year, which raised revenues up to NT$7.4 billion - US$226 million, and the MIC has stated that they expect the industry to grow up to 19% annually over the next few years.
