SPAWAR Contract Won By SWE-DISH
by Rohan Parker
The U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) Center announced today that they are awarding SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, a DataPath company, their indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract to supply SPAWAR with portable SATCOM terminals.
Six other companies also took parts of the contract, which has a total value of approximatly $491 million over the next five years. SWE-DISH is expected to take roughly $32 million in the first base year, which will then up to $175 million in the base and option years.
The reason SWE-DISH took the contract is because of their higly acclaimed mobile SATCOM terminals, such as the SWE-DISH Suitcase system, which encorporates CommuniCaseTechnology and SATCOM on-the move systems which ensure high-bandwith capabilites even outside traditional networked areas.
