Texas Instruments and Microsoft achieve VoIP compatibility

Texas Instruments’ VoIP chipsets are now compatible with Microsoft's RT audio codec unified communications platform. The company has been working closely with Microsoft to include its wideband codec into TI's VoIP solutions.

The dissemination of unified communications solutions to the market is being supported by Texas Instruments, further enabling Microsoft to quickly meet the application demands of service providers, and small and medium enterprises.

RT audio is a wideband speech codec designed for VoIP, and the Texas Instrument compatibility will assist original equipment manufacturers to develop new IP applications for the business market.

As a consequence of their joint efforts, TI and Microsoft are enabling businesses to take advantage of the benefits of VoIP and ultimately help them bring devices that are optimised for Microsoft's unified communications platform to market.
