AMD Pushes Up New Desktop CPU Launch

AMD has announced that the release of their new B3 stepping Quad-core Phenom 9050 series of CPU’s has been set for next week or the one after.
The launch will include the 9850, 9750, 9650, 9550 and 9150 modules, however the top-end module, the 9850 has been mildly downgraded to reach a core frequency of 2.5GHz rather than the 2.6GHz initially announced.
However, according to motherboard manufacturers, by the third quarter higher frequency modules are expected.
During April, AMD are expected to launch there triple-core Phenom 8750, 8650 and 8450 CPU’s which have a lower power usage of around 65W. In the mean time, the Athlon 64 X2 5800+ will be launched to bridge the gap in the market.
Also to be released by AMD for the dual-core market is the Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Black Edition and 4600+ range, which is due before the end of the month. After that the Phenom-based Athlon 6250 and 6050 CPUs will be released.
At the conclusion of this month, AMD will no longer be taking orders for Athlon 64 X2 6400+, 6000+ and 5600+ (89W versions) modules.
