Philips announces UK-availability of Eco TV
by Janet Harris

Philips has announced that its new, energy-efficient, Eco FlatTV LCD TV will be available in the UK from June for around £1,100.
The 42 inch, full 1080p set is based on Philips’ Ambilight technology, which the company has previously used to add extra lighting effects around the TV.
The Eco TV uses Ambilight sensors to monitor the level of ambient light in the room and adjust the brightness of the TV’s backlight accordingly. This provides significant savings in electricity without compromising picture quality. The set is also designed to use just 0.15W of power when in standby mode.
Other environmentally-friendly features include the use of lead-free components, flame-retardant materials, and recycled packaging.
The Eco TV also features four HDMI ports, built-in “invisible” speakers and Philips’ Pixel Plus HD technology which helps to eliminate noise from an incoming signal to give a crystal clear image.
