Switch over preparation means no signal
by David Allen

A huge amount of television viewers tuning in to receive their daily fix of terrestrial television will be disappointed if they are located in the Lancashire and the South Lakes, as there is some work starting on the transmitter mast located in Lancaster. The work is being done to upgrade an aerial which will have something to do with the digital switch over programme currently working its way around the country.
However this work is due to be completed today and so will not affect any of the evening programming, in fact the work is supposed to be totally completed by six o’clock this evening or whenever the new aerial has been fitted and is working ok.
Before the digital switch over has been completed virtually all of the transmitters around the UK will need to be upgraded in this manner. This will mean that at some time between now and the end of 2012, there is going to be some disruption almost everywhere around the country. The switch over is due to take place in the Lancashire and South Lakes area next year.
