Following the release of data from the regulator Ofcom, it has been found that the last thee months of 2007 saw an unprecedented rise in the sale of digital TV equipment. With over four million units being sold, proving that people are not just sitting around waiting around for the switch over after all.

Integrated digital TV made up more than two million units; in fact the true figure was 2.3 million units. This is up by 132% on the same quarter in 2006 showing that there is a huge market and great demand for the products.

This takes the total amount of households in the UK who receive digital television is around 87% an increase of 1.6%. These figures work out that just over twenty two million households now have at least one television that is receiving digital TV. But with many households having multiple televisions exactly how many can receive digital TV is a mystery.
