Artelis, a telecommunications group, has selected Thomson’s VoIP softswitches for the deployment of IP telephony by its two subsidiaries, which have more than 250,000 subscribers in Luxembourg and Germany.

Artelis owns two telecommunication companies - Cegecom in Luxembourg and VSE NET in Germany. It also provides wholesale communications services to other operators. Thomson's Cirpack VoIP platform has been selected in order to launch a double play offer packaged with primary line telephony to its residential customers.

In addition, it will offer "IP centrex" services with advanced business features to enterprise customers.

Thomson's interoperability with multiple networks, including traditional telephony and cable infrastructures, made the Cirpack softswitch suitable for the deployment by artemis in both countries, as well as for the wholesale clients, some of whom are cable operators.

In addition, artemis was attracted by the fact that Thomson provides end-to-end solutions for triple play, which is something that is being examined for the future.

As more German operators accelerate their migration to next-generation networks, they are seeking more network optimisation, as well as operating cost reduction opportunities. Many are turning to Thomson.

Thomson's Cirpack softswitches have been involved in 14 operator deployments in Germany to date.
