August launch for Kangaroo
by David Allen

The new multi channel video on demand service initially named Project Kangaroo is set to be launched in August this year. Although there has been no name released for this channel yet, it will prove to be a fantastic opportunity to provide all of the best programming from the BBC, ITV and Channel Four.
The launch in August will see the channel first on the internet, but it is also expected to become available on various satellite platforms too. However there will be a registration process for viewers and the details provided will allow the channel to target advertising to a particular group determined by age, location and other data depending on the advertising requirements.
However there could be a problem for the BBC when it comes to advertising, as there will be a lot of it, these are expected to include display adverts, pre roll ads and centre break ads which will be around the video itself. The advertisers will be able to get an idea of how successful their adverts are through monitoring how people watch programmes.
