Intel Predicted To Set Back P45 Chipset Release Date
by Rohan Parker
According to sources from within the industry, Intel is expected to set back their launch of the P45 chipset from the original time of May to mid June.
Those sources cited incompatibility issues between the P45’s PCI Express x16 port and graphics cards as being the cause of the delay, but that Intel had assured them that the release should only be held up by 2 to 4 weeks.
The news isn’t too bad for mobo makers, as this may give them the opportunity they needed to move their stocks of P35s, however there is the possibility of Intel’s image being marred somewhat over their technological development capabilities.
Sources stated that Intel should be announcing the P45 chipset at the Computex 2008 convention, but that shipments would not start until mid June and the earliest.
