Sony announces Bravia W4000 energy saving TV

Electronics company, Sony, has announced the Bravia W4000 LCD series of energy saving TVs, which display still images on the screen when the TV isn’t in use.

The Bravia W4000 HD TVs feature an innovative Picture Frame Mode, designed to enhance the look of a living space even when it’s not being used. The technology displays images from a USB memory stick on the TV screen and Sony claims it uses around 35% less power than TV viewing mode.

Bravia W4000 LCD series comes features 32in, 40in, 46in and 52in models. All have a resolution of 1080p, and display video content at 24 frames per second. This means that films are played back at the same speed at which they were recorded.

All of the models have a 178° viewing angle and feature Sony’s Xross Media Bar (XMB) menu system. The sets also have three HDMI input ports and two scart connections.

The release date for the Bravia W4000 series is not yet available.
