Ofcom dismisses Brits complaints
by David Allen

The annual Brit Awards is always a spectacular live event which is filled to the brim with stars from the music and TV industry, this coupled with the abundance of free drink always means that showing it live is always going to be a risky business. This year was no exception with the regulator Ofcom receiving 128 complaints about the show which was hosted by TV’s favourite family The Osbourne’s.
The most obvious cause for complaint was the little incident that occurred between host Sharon Osbourne and comedian Vic Reeves, there were a few offensive words and the comedian was gone. However it was the references to alcohol and the bad language which made 128 people rush for their phones. But in the previous years show comedian Russell Brand managed to get 262 complaints.
Ofcom were never going to do anything about the complaints, simply because despite the show starting a 20.00 hrs the incident happened after the watershed at 21.00 hrs and the language had only been described as mild. They went on to describe the show as having a particular reputation and this sort of behaviour is expected from time to time.
