Three per cent of UK get super fast broadband
by David Allen

It’s a staggering statement but despite all of the advertising and media coverage, it has been estimated that only very small amount of UK internet users are able to actually get super fast broadband with speeds that are over 8 Mbps.
Only three per cent are able to get high speed internet access. As a comparison this figure of three per cent is more or less exactly the same as the amount of internet users who still get dial up with a speed of less than 128 Kbps.
On average the speed that is more often than not found by over half of all internet users is somewhere between 2 Mbps and 512 Mbps. While just one third of the UK users will be lucky enough to find that their internet connection speed is within the 2 Mbps and 8 Mbps range.
Many of the speed factors are to do with how far the user is from the exchange, in some cases this can be several miles away and so the speed is slower.
