NetLogic Microsystems, Inc has announced the availability of its NLS205 family of NETL7 knowledge-based processors.

NETL7 is the first single-chip content processor that can scale from 250 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps line-rate performance without requiring external memory.

Featuring a new architecture, the compact NLS205 family of processors provides a cost-effective solution for use in high-volume applications, including security and networking systems for small and medium-sized businesses.

The innovative Intelligent Finite Automata (IFA) architecture of the NETL7 NLS205 range provides built-in intelligence to perform deep-packet inspection (DPI) for advanced security and application-aware systems.

Through the use of a highly multi-threaded hybrid of multiple advanced finite automata algorithms, the IFA architecture ensures low power consumption and memory requirement, while enhancing performance, database flexibility and compilation speed.

The NETL7 knowledge-based processors also integrate massively parallel compute engines with high-bandwidth on-chip database memory.

The NLS205 processors provide over 100 Terabits per second (Tbps) of ultra-low latency access bandwidth. This accelerates complex and iterative content inspection and eliminates the need for high-latency and costly off-chip memory.

Combining the IFA architecture and the massively parallel engines, gives customers more efficiency and scalability in their system designs than solutions from competitors, which may need external memory or share host CPU system.
