Regulator to look into PSB

Regulator to look into PSB<br />

It would seem that the future of public service broadcasting is firmly in the hands of the communications regulator Ofcom. Who have begun to look into the future of PSB through a review of how this is going to progress.

It is believed that if the service is just left to its own devices without any change of rules and even new legislation to control it, the future will be looking bleak for regional programmes and children’s television too.

The problem that faces the future of PSB is fact that commercial television has grown so large in such a short time, that the companies involved have been looking at the bottom line and there is not much bottom line in children’s and regional TV for some of the channels anyway.

Over the next few months there is likely to be some serious meetings between the BBC, Five, S4C, Channel Four and Teletext as they go about deciding how the future is going to look.
