Sony Bravia to feature backlit screen?
by Janet Harris

Speculation is growing that Sony is adding backlit screens to its Bravia XBR8 HDTV.
The news was leaked by the Boy Genius Report, which also claims that while the lower tier XBR7 will not have the backlit screen, it will feature support for DLNA media sharing and online program guides.
Sony’s Triluminos LED-backlighting technology should provide a significant enhancement in contrast ratios, providing a deeper black without compromising the quality of lighter areas. The technology should also provide increased colour accuracy.
It is anticipated that the new HDTVs will be available in stores this October.
