The BT Home Hub Hacked<br />

For customers of BT Broadband who use the BT Home Hub as their wireless router there is some bad news regarding the Home Hubs security?

Following a warning from a group of so called ethical hackers, it has been announced that they were able to simply reverse engineer the router to obtain the default settings; this means that if the user leaves the Home Hub as it was delivered, then it can be hacked.

There are two types of encryption being used in routers, one is the Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and the other Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), but it is the strength of the WEP that is in question.

In order to heighten security users would need to use WPA instead of WEP and change the default encryption key as soon as possible or get in touch with BT customer services, this is the only way to protect the home network.
