HSL adds 3G to 2.75G Femtocell
by Jan Harris
Mobile network operator, Hay Systems Ltd (HSL), is planning to add 3G capability to its 2.75G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) femtocell, which is currently under development.
Currently available Femtocells from other vendors only support 3G, while HSL’s new product will be capable of supporting both 2G and 3G mobile handsets.
HSL expects to start shipping the 2.75G Femtocell in volume at the end of the year, and 3G support will be added in 2009.
HSL operates its own GSM network and is involved in the development of GSM mobile network infrastructure.
Infrastructure for networks is developed by the company’s Mobile Networks. This is used within HSL’s own network and sold to mobile networks operators worldwide.
