Switchover is opportunity for crime
by David Allen

With the digital switchover already taking place in the UK there are reports that some people are being taken advantage off by some criminals who are going around and cold calling on vulnerable people’s doorsteps.
The whole switchover process is not due to be completed until 2012, which in affect is giving those criminals around four years to follow the switchover as makes its way around the country.
It’s not that the criminals are doing anything that means these elderly residents are opening their doors to these people, who are saying that they are something to do with the digital switchover. Being older people they respect that and so let them in. This is where the trouble begins.
It should be stressed to all householders in the UK; nobody from Digital UK will ever call around to anyone’s home with regards to the receiving of digital television.
This is a serious matter for older people and as they hear that the switchover is happening it is only natural that this could open up doors for them.
