Ofcom’s sewer project hits blockage
by David Allen

It seemed to be such a great idea, placing the much awaited fibre optic network into the nation’s sewers. This would mean that there would be little disruption to the road network and at the same time install the high speed internet network in quick time.
However as with all good ideas, that seem to be the answer, but when more and more people think about it this is when the problems begin to float to the surface.
The idea of using the sewers will work fine in those large Victorian sewers that are found in central London and possibly in some parts of the other major cities in the UK, but once these have been used then it is going to be a different story.
This is going to mean that extensive road works are going to be required in order to roll this fibre optic network out throughout the UK to give everyone the opportunity to experience high speed broadband.
