Sky’s the limit for iPlayer

The BBC iPlayer has been under attack from the boss of BSkyB, James Murdoch.
The son of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has been voicing his opinions on the development and launch of the hugely successful iPlayer from the BBC.
Sky TV have their own On Demand service called “Sky Anytime” but James Murdoch feels that the iPlayer is in danger of crushing all of the competition.
He insists that it is not about the competition, rather the way that the competition has been created.
The very fact that the BBC is funded through the issuing of the TV Licence means that the BBC has an unfair advantage on commercial companies who need to raise funds through advertising and have shareholders to look after.
This attack is par for the course, and is certainly not the first attack on the BBC and the iPlayer device which has really taken off since its launch in December.

Oh poor Murdoch, is the BBC spanking his bottom online? Oh dear, cannot say I am bothered. Personally as a licence payer who cannot otherwise get BBC three and four I welcome the online player and hope the rest of the companies who lose out shut the hell up. We dont care Rupert, you owqn most of our media, stay the hell out of the BBC business!
