BBC and ITV in trouble over election broadcasts

by David Allen

Whenever there is an election due, all candidates can use those five minute slots on the main TV channels to try and put their points across.

Naturally some of these points are going to vary and not everyone is going to always agree with them, which could be the reason why the Christian Choice candidate is taking BBC and ITV to court.

Alan Craig has told the Christian Legal Centre to prepare the paperwork and file it at the Royal Courts of Justice, because he claims that officials from both the BBC and ITV told him to remove certain parts from his party’s election broadcast.

The legal people from the BBC and ITV had told him that the way that he described an Islamic organisation needed to be changed; otherwise they would not be showing it.

Mr Craig is a councillor in Newham, East London and is the Christian Choice candidate for the London Mayoral election coming up on the 1st May.
