VOD on Five re-launched

by David Allen

Five Download is to be re-branded and re-launched as “Demand Five” with the changeover due to take place by the end of May.

Before then there is going to be a marketing campaign that will leave no part of the media untouched as they attempt to get the message out.

The new service, Demand Five, will offer the feature of being able to track back thirty days for the catch up service for the channels in the group, Five, Five US and Fiver.

There will also be other programming available through the archives, and this is estimated to run into hundreds of hours of content.

Although most of the content will be free to view, there may be some advertising put in place before the programmes begin.

There may be a charge for some US dramas, these could be charged at around 99p to download, and special edition preview shows will be offered at £1.99 per viewing.

However advertising may be scarce with the introduction of other on demand services, but there could be sponsorship possibilities for individual programmes and series, which may help.
