Salesforce.com, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) specialist, and venture capital firm, Eden Ventures, have announced the £1 million Force.com Investment Challenge.

The challenge, which is a UK first, aims to encourage independent software vendors (ISVs) to develop SaaS applications on the Force.com Platform.

Force.com is the world’s first Platform as a Service (PaaS). It allows developers to create business applications on-demand and without software, enabling companies to quickly translate their ideas into applications.

The winner of the Force.com challenge will be invited to negotiate with Eden Ventures for a potential investment of up to £1 million, together with ongoing business support.

The winner will be announced at salesforce.com’s user and developer conference, Dreamforce 2008, in November.

Eden Ventures specialises in investing in UK and Ireland-based technology companies in the telecommunications software, enterprise software, digital media, e-commerce, internet and mobile sectors.
