by Rohan Parker

Cicero Networks have announced the release of a new client for converged rich communication between the Nokia S60 and Windows Mobile devices.

This is the first client in the world that fully integrates mobile voice, presence, messaging and video together.

The designers at Cicero have intended the client to be highly user-friendly and to build upon wireless, IP-based, and next-gen IMS networks already in place.

Rich communication is defined by the use of messaging, presence, and video in addition to voice services.

CiceroPhone 2.0 actually allows users to make voice and video calls, and chat online, at the same time from one mobile phone.

This software is also set up to use multiple networks, Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, LTE, WiMAX, whilst maintaining service.

CEO of Cicero Networks, Ross Brennan, spoke on the importance of CiceroPhone.

He said that the client had been built to combine the best of both worlds, in regards to web based and wireless based communications.

Brennan went on to say that the compilation of voice, presence, video and messaging was intended to build a large client base and promote revenue growth.

CiceroPhone is designed to take full advantage of the plethora of next-gen networks currently being developed.

The hope is that both users and operators are quickly going to see the benefits associated with the combination of VoIP and other SIP-enabled applications.

Cicero Networks have been considered a forerunner in the world of VoIP and 2G cellular networks, which they intend to use to give CiceroPhone 2.0 the chance to hit the ground running.

The new client is designed to bring the range of communications functionality seen on desktop PCs to mobile devices.

The 2.0 client will be fully operational and available to service providers before the end of this month, with the video upgraded client coming later in the year.
