BT Vision has chosen Pace Group to supply the next-generation V-box for its IPTV service.

The set top box was previously supplied by Royal Philips Electronics which is now owned by Pace.

The new V-box is an HD capable next-generation personal video recorder (PVR) with two tuners – providing both digital terrestrial channels and IPTV connectivity for on-demand content and interactive services.

The V-box provides access to 40 Freeview TV channels and 30 radio channels and can record 80 hours of content.

It is based on Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV middleware and Nagravision conditional access technology and will be more powerful than the previous model, and also more energy efficient.

The next generation V-box should be ready to ship in 2009.
