Pace to supply equipment to BT

by David Allen

The UK based set top box manufacturer Pace Micro are to supply BT with the latest equipment which will enable users of BT’s on demand service to watch and record programmes.

The set top box will be known as the Pace V Box, which is in line with other similar equipment as it will use two tuners and is capable of connecting to seventy freeview channels as well as radio channels too.

But the main reason for using this type of equipment is the ability to record and watch programmes at the same time.

The V Box will have a 40 Gb hard drive, which is capable of holding up to eighty hours of content, this is a great feature and why many users of any service subscribes.

There are at present around three million BT Vision subscribers.

This contract could be worth millions of pounds for Pace Micro over the period of the contract, although there will be a little wait for anxious BT customers, as it is not due to be shipped until 2009.
