BBC 3 wants earlier start time
by David Allen

In order to stay in line with the competition on other channels, the BBC is looking for permission from the BBC Trust to allow the channel BBC 3 to start earlier than the current 7 pm weekday slot.
They believe that by starting a couple of hours earlier on the weekday schedule, this would give them a chance to capitalise on the teen market place which is their preferred viewer anyway.
However it is doubtful if there is going to be a lightning decision made by the BBC Trust, in fact there may not even be a decision either way until next year.
This will give the channel an opportunity to either produce or buy some new content.
It is not known how the BBC wish to see this channel progress, but it would seem likely that the ideal vehicle would be “Switch” as this already has a large teen following.
