SKY Italia Deploys Harmonic’s Video Solutions

SKY Italia, currently having 4.5 million subscribers, will be using Harmonic’s compression IP based statistical multiplexing solutions for its direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service.

SKY Italia will be deploying the solutions due to the need for higher bandwidth efficiency, reducing bit rates and improving video quality, and have followed in the footsteps of seven of the largest satellite providers worldwide.
