Adobe Flash Player Bug

Hackers have come across an unpatched bug in the Adobe Flash Player software which is, apparently, very similar to a bug that was patched just last month.

The flaw allowed hackers to install unauthorised software on a victim’s machine and was being used to install botnet programs and password-logging software.

Obviously, from a security point of view, with the likes of Paypal accounts, Ebay (which includes card details) and online banking, this is a serious issue.

The flaw had previously been addressed, but the 9.0.124 Linux version of Adobe’s Flash Player is still affected, which basically means Windows and Mac OS X users are fine, it’s the standalone software which is affected.

Due to reports of the player crashing on Windows XP, further investigation saw Symantec announce that the problem lies within the patch on the bug, which was not excecuted correctly.

Adobe and Symantec continue to develop a solution for the problem.
