Huge BBC salaries are value for money

by David Allen

For some time there has been a looking glass over the salaries of the BBC’s high rollers.

One such star springs to mind, Jonathan Ross and his estimated £18 million three year deal.

This really alerted people to the sort of money people are earning at the BBC.

So in order to make the whole situation clear, the BBC Trust Chairman, Sir Michael Lyons has been discussing the implications of a report into these high salaries and their relation to market influences.

The conclusion being that these multi million pound deals are not distorting the marketplace, in fact they are in line with what personalities get on other TV channels, although this does not mean that the BBC has to pay these huge salaries as a matter of course.

But just to recap, £18 million for Jonathan Ross over three years, David Walliams and Matt Lucas of Little Briton fame are on £6 million and Graham Norton gets £5 million all over a three year period.
