Microsoft in Live Search deal with HP
by Janet Harris

Microsoft announced a major distribution deal with Hewlett Packard (HP) today.
From January 2009, Microsoft’s Live Search will be the default search engine on Hewlett Packard PCs manufactured for sale in the US and Canada, replacing Yahoo!, which is currently the default search engine on HP machines.
The toolbar will provide links to HP’s online services, including its photo service Snapfish.
The move will help Microsoft in its struggle to compete against Google, which is by far the largest player in the search engine market.
The deal builds on a similar agreement which Microsoft has with China’s Lenovo Group.
