An “Educational Campaign” from Virgin Media
by David Allen

Virgin Media must have taken delivery of a new printer as they are preparing to send out even more mail to their subscribers over the next few weeks or so.
This time they are labelling the campaign as an educational scheme, where they hope to inform their subscribers about illegal downloading.
This campaign is being conducted in conjunction with the BPI who has been quoted as looking for more severe sanctions against internet users who have been identified by them as being responsible for downloading illegal music.
These users will be receiving two letters one from Virgin and another from the BPI.
These letters will explain to the user how to prevent account misuse and how to avoid the risks of being involved in a legal case.
There is also a little bit in there informing the subscriber that by using peer to peer networks they are running the risk of viruses and other security threats.
