Broadband costs could increase due to BBC!

by David Allen

The BBC has announced that within months they will be simulcasting all of the BBC1 programmes via the BBC website.

This will mean that anyone can watch a BBC1 programme live without the need for a TV, but at the same time this will mean that the internet is going to struggle under the strain.

If this catches on and other channels follow, there will be a situation where PCs get larger monitors and this could mean that sales of TVs would fall, especially for people setting up home.

In this case could not having a TV mean not needing a TV licence? Thereby reducing the income brought in by it.

There is also the internet service providers to think of; they are already up in arms over the success of the iPlayer.

If fans of BBC shows like Eastenders and The Apprentice watch them online, the internet speeds will drop and costs will rise, these costs will have to be picked up by someone and it is highly likely to be subscribers.
