Digital penetration 93% by year end

by David Allen

According to research from Deloitte who have just started up a Digital Index, the penetration of homes with some form of digital TV will be around 93% by the end of the year; this is up 6% on the figures at the beginning of the year.

Digital TV in the UK has the potential to offer a massive market for technology equipment suppliers as eventually people are going to have upgrade their equipment, either with a new TV, set top boxes or satellite equipment.

It has been found that many people are still unaware of how their current equipment will fit in with the new systems that they have had installed.

This is despite having information available through many sources including the internet.

However lessons should have been learnt from when “Five” was launched; despite all of the advertising campaigns people were still unaware of the problems and that everything needed retuning.
