ITV to launch HD service on Saturday
by David Allen

ITV have chosen a great time to launch their HD service, it will begin with the first match in the Euro 2008 Football Championships, and this game will start at 7.15 pm on the 7th June.
The match between Portugal and Turkey will mark the launch time of the new channel, which will be aired via the new Freesat service.
The HD service will be available by the user pressing the “Red” button as the HD service does not yet have its own dedicated channel.
By using the Freesat service it will include people who would not have had the opportunity to get any of the Free to Air channels.
This HD service is not just going to be for sport, although they have plans for extra sports events such as the FA Cup and even England Internationals, but there are plans for other TV programming too, such films and dramas which could boost the demand for the service.
