BT may give trial homes a discount

by David Allen

There may be only three hundred in the BT trial of super fast broadband in Ebbsfleet, Kent but the scheme is essential to the future rolling out of this technology throughout the UK, which is why they need everyone on their side.

This could be why BT wants to offer these homes a discount on the 100 Mbps broadband connection.

BT needs a solid testing area for the trial in order for them to be able to gauge the situation and come out at the end with some reliable data.

The problem is BT will need the telecom regulator Ofcom to look into the Universal Service Conditions (USC) which is in place to ensure that prices are at the same levels throughout the country.

However because this trial is essential research, it seem reasonable to think that Ofcom would not object.
