Lift off for ITV’s broadband TV
by David Allen

It may have been a bit of a slow burner, but since ITV invested £20 million into the broadband TV feature on ITV.com, the ball has started rolling with the online viewing figures reaching a very impressive twelve million for the month of May.
Clearly they have been lifted by the Euro 2008 football tournament and the show that rivalled the BBC’s ‘I’ll do anything’, ‘Britain’s got talent’, but at the moment it is the football at the Euro 2008 competition that is scoring for ITV.
For the first five months of the year ITV.com has seen a massive 362% increase in video usage.
In total, since the re-launch in August 2007, they have seen over sixty nine million requests for videos.
However the main rival, the BBC’s iPlayer, had over seventy five million requests in the first quarter of the year.
ITV have some ground to cover but at least they are moving in the right direction.
