Sky wins licence fee cash
by David Allen

BSkyB has beaten off some heavy competition, including the ITV and BBC joint venture Freesat, to win the Digital Switchover Help Scheme in the ITV Border region, which was the first region to have its analogue signal turned off.
BSkyB will now supply a low cost set top box for disabled and older people.
For just £40 or less, it could be free in some circumstances; BSkyB will install a digital satellite receiver, as well as Sky+ and some extra channels from Sky TV completely free for two months, which has to be a good deal.
At the end of the two months trial, the viewers can either opt in or continue using the extra Sky services or change to the free TV and Radio channels which are available through Sky.
As this deal is just for the ITV Border region, this will mean that as the analogue signals are turned off around the country this will be the start of another tendering process, which should mean that the customers are getting the best deals available.
