Bill Gates and the long goodbye

The day has come when finally Bill Gates will leave the Microsoft HQ and never return to run the company on a day to day basis.

No matter how anyone feels about Microsoft and their products there is no doubt of the influence that he has had on the world of computing.

To many he is an inspiration, while to others he has been looked upon as the dark lord who has finally been defeated, and so the world rejoices.

Its been two years since he announced that he would be stepping down, and we had to wonder if this day would ever come, but now it is upon us the world still seems the same and the computers still run, most of the time.

Obviously this is not the last we have heard of him.

In fact now that he can spend all of his time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we are more likely to hear more about his work.

What will be the next milestone on the cards? The Nobel Peace Prize, maybe!
