Remote area to get connected
by David Allen

There are still a few areas in Scotland where getting a broadband connection is impossible.
But all this is about change as Jim Mather, the Enterprise Minister has signed a £3.3 million agreement which will see many remote areas getting a broadband connection for the first time.
The areas affected will be parts of north Sanday and Rousay in Orkney, Jura, the Angus Glens, Skye and Wester Ross, covering around four thousand homes.
These areas were identified following a survey of people who were unable to get broadband access because of their location and distance from an ADSL enabled telephone exchange.
Although the work is due to begin shortly, it is not expected to be finished until around this time next year, so although this is good news for these remote areas, they are still going to have to wait a while before they all get connected.
