Harmonic 4 star rated IPTV Solution

Harmonic Inc, have achieved 4 star ratings, from the Broadband Gear Report’s (BGR) 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews.

The announcement includes the Direct-to-Edge cable IPTV solution, MediaPrism™ on-demand content preparation software, and PWRLink™ 1310 nm DWDM transmitters, and the Harmonic’s DiviCom® Ion™ encoder achieved 3.5 stars.

At the Diamond Technology Reviews last year their DiviCom Electra® 7000 high definition MPEG-4 AVC encoder topped the opposition with a 5 diamond score, which has been the best score since the reviews were first started in 2005.

Diamond Technology Reviews believes that the Harmonics cable IPTV solution was particular technologically advanced, enabling operators to leverage their DOCSIS and digital video to deliver IP-based video service at low bit-rates, hence the high ratings.

The Diamond Technology Reviews also were aware of the futuristic characters of the Harmonic PWRLink 1310 DWDM transmitter, which enables more effective use, reducing the need for operators to increase fiber, whereas the MediaPrism software allows preparation of on-demand video delivery.

The panel at the Broadband Gear Report’s (BGR) 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews consisted of the most highly respected engineers from the likes of Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Suddenlink, Bresnan, KnowledgeLink Inc., and Sunflower Broadband.
