EU may ban infected computers

by David Allen

Under new rules being put together by the European Union, it would appear that if a computer becomes infected by a virus, the ISP will have to ban that machine from getting onto the internet.

There is to be no argument as to whether the computer owner knows about this problem or not, under the new rules being considered for the Security Economics and European Policy.

These rules will affect just about anyone who uses the internet, as at any time a computer can be attacked with malicious software, viruses from spam attacks and even Trojans, and some people do not even know that their machine has been attacked.

This could see a large amount of users being kicked off the internet if they leave their machine connected without doing anything about it.

How this is going to work is not yet known, but removing customers from the internet seems to be a theme these days.
