It may have been a great two part ending for the BBC’s Dr Who, with everyone ending up in the right place and so on, but thousands of fans were disappointed to find that the phone number displayed on the TV screen for the Doctor was actually a dead line.

For one moment earth tried to contact Dr Who and the number 07700 900461 appeared a couple of times.

Now for most people the idea of calling this number is as bad as calling the cab number on the set of Eastenders, but there are people who would like feel that the number is there for a reason.

In fact all phone numbers seen on the TV are in fact dead numbers; callers would either get a network message or a deadline tone.

However, has the BBC missed an opportunity here?

Fans believed that they were calling a line where details would be provided on the coming episode.

Ofcom have said that no callers would have been charged for making these calls, as it is just like when you call someone who does not answer the phone.
